What music lessons do you offer?
Guitar- Classical, Acoustic, Electric & Ukulele
Percussions – Drums, Marimba, Vibraphone, Xylophone, Timpani
Bowed Instrument – Violin, Viola (Cello – no instructor)
Clarinet & Saxophone
Music Theory, Aural-Training
Group Lessons – Group lessons are supplementary.
Groups are only formed when 4 students have signed up.
For violin students, they have the orchestra/ensemble.
We normally have theory and aural training groups near exam seasons.
How old can children start taking lessons?
Students as early as five years old can start in piano, violin, classical guitar and vocal training, and most percussion instruments, after an assessment by our Academic Advisor.
For other bowed instruments, such as viola and cello it is advisable for students to start at 7 years old and older.
For Clarinet & Saxophone, 8-9 years old can start with recorder before upgrading.
How soon will my son/daughter learn to play the instrument?
There are many factors that plays in this area: Frequency of the lessons, practice habits and musicality. In general, most students can start to play their first song within four months.
How many minutes are the lessons?
30 minutes for 5-7 years old
45 minutes for 8 years old up to adults
60 minutes (as recommended by teacher)
Why do I need an assessment/aptitude test?
Assessment with the Academic Advisor/specialist gives us an idea which instrument is suitable for a beginner.
The teacher will also give their recommendation for the duration of the lessons (30/45/60mins) and the frequency (once or twice a week).
What are the timings of lessons?
The Music Chamber Academy conduct lessons Sunday to Thursday, from 2:00pm to 9:00pm and Saturday from 10:00am to 9:00pm.
Lesson schedules are fixed on registration but can be adjusted in consultation with the admin. Schedules on Saturdays and between 1600 to 1900 are normally more difficult to accommodate.
Do you have other branches?
No, Music Chamber prefers one location to offer the full music experience and closely monitor quality and progress achieved.
Where are your teachers from?
The Music Chamber has an international team of teachers who are highly qualified and trained to teach students from beginners to advanced. Those teachers are carefully selected from around the world for their qualifications, years of experience and passion for teaching. Teachers’ profiles are available on our website.
Do your teachers come to the student’s home?
No. We only conduct the lessons at our premises to provide consistency, monitor progress and provide the full music experience. Students have the opportunity to perform at our in-house auditorium, take part in competitions and exams under our expert guidance.
What is 150AED registration fee for?
This covers regular progress report (December & June/July), and cultural activities (recitals in December & May/June)
Do you provide the instrument?
We have upright pianos in all piano and violin rooms.
We have the drum set and percussions.
For guitar, ukulele, violin, viola, clarinet and saxophone – students need to bring their own instruments.
We strongly advise our students to have their own instrument so they can practice at home.
Do you have a refund policy?
Lessons are non-refundable as per our Terms and Conditions.
We have a smaller lesson package of Monthly 4 lessons if the student is not sure they can commit to a Semester 11 lessons.
We can offer the student to try a different instrument that he/she would be interested in. If not, we could transfer the remaining credits to siblings or relative.
We can also offer a showroom credit.
What method books are you using?
We have a large selection of method books for each instrument that are recommended by our teachers based on a case by case approach. The Music Chamber has the largest music library in the Middle East and is regularly updated with new method books and supplementary material.
Do you conduct examinations?
The Music Chamber is accredited by the London-based Associated Board of Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM), which also conducts its exams at our own premises.
ABRSM conducts practical and music theory exams twice a year.
September registration for November-December. For this session, students must go to Dubai College themselves to register. And exams are held at Dubai College.
January registration for April-May-June exam. For this session, registration is applied at Music Chamber. And practical exams are held at Music Chamber. (Music Theory exams are held at Dubai College).
Trinity Exams. Our teachers can train students for Trinity exams. Registration will be done by the students themselves at the Trinity office.
Rock School. (Same terms as Trinity.)
